Wet Weekend

This past weekend was filled with water. It started on Thursday with us swimming with friends. Ryan has become a total fish and he thinks that he can swim. He has a floaty swimsuit so he has no fear of the water which is really scary. He started this new thing where he holds onto the side of the pool and then pushes off with his feet and then will float on his back. It is really cute. On Friday we went to the Chino Splash pad, which was a lot of fun and Ryan loved just running in and out of the water. We also played and ate lunch at the park. Saturday we went down to the beach again. It was a lot colder than the last time we went but we still had a good time. Ryan this time didn't want anyone to hold him so it was hard because he would just run right into the waves and then get knocked down, he thought it was great but I got a lot of dirty looks from other mothers on the beach. Luckily, there was a great big hole next to where we were sitting so we put him in there to dig around for awhile and he couldn't climb out at first. We also went to an Angel game on Friday night for my Mom's law office party. It was the worst game I have been to this season. The Angel's couldn't hit anything, but it was fun to be there with my family. This week we are going to be relaxing and getting ready to start school next week.

Lemonade Stand

Yesterday, Sydney and Nico came over to play with Christian. Sydney and Christian decided that they wanted to sell Popcorn and Lemonade, Nico wanted to just play in the Lego room (which he later regretted when he didn't get to share the profit). So they made a sign and helped me make popcorn and lemonade. They sold each for 50 cents. They were so excited about it and a couple of our neighbors came over to buy some. They ended up making $4.50 which is really good considering they only did it for an hour. So they split their money and then the rest of the night Christian kept asking if we could go out so he could spend his money. It was a lot of fun.

Christian's Talk

Christian gave his first talk in Primary and did a wonderful job. He is usually really shy but he was well prepared so he just got up there and did amazing. But we found out that he is like me and doesn't really like compliments, he was more embarrassed by people telling him he did a good job then anything else. We were so proud of him and he was very excited about it. He has never been able to give a talk before because it always seemed that when it was his classes turn to do it, he was at his Mom's house. So it was fun and the best part was that he wrote most of the talk himself, I just helped him put all the ideas together so it would flow well.

My Dad's Birthday

So Friday was my Father's 63rd birthday. We celebrated it on Saturday at Irvine Park. It was such a great time. We rode the train and did the pony rides but then my camera ran out of batteries so I didn't get any other pictures. It was crowded and hot but we still had a great time. My Sister and her boyfriend rented the tandem bike and the kids loved riding on it. We played football and baseball and had lunch and of course birthday cake. The only bad part of the day was that Daniel had to work.
Happy Birthday Dad!
I didn't get a chance to get a photo with my dad on Saturday so this one will have to do.

Ryan loved the train ride but it was a little to long for him to have to stay seated.

Christian loved the ponies, it was $4 for a ride which I thought was kind of pricey so Ryan didn't get to ride, since he wouldn't know what was going on anyways.

I don't know if you can tell by this picture since he is in front of a red door but Ryan's face is completely red. He inherited this trait from me, when ever I am hot my face is completely red.

Football Tryouts

Today Christian had tryouts for Flag Football. He plays in Rancho Cucamonga near his Mom's house. He is in division C which is 8 & 9 year old's. I couldn't believe how competitive it was and so completely different from last year. He was in the younger division last year and they didn't even keep score. They weighed him in and measured him, he weighs 61.5 pounds and is 50 inches tall. Then they had them run drills and there was 3 coaches there taking notes and I guess decided who they want on their teams. It was crazy but he had a great time and did really great. Especially since he is the youngest of all of them since he only makes the cut off by 3 days. He really hopes that he is on the Patriots team, it will be fun to see what he gets, they are suppose to call us in two weeks with our team and coaches name.

Castle Park

The library has a summer reading program that we signed Christian up for that gives prizes for every 5 books or 5 hours he reads up to 25. Last week he hit the 25 book mark and so he got the big prize which was a free pass to Castle Park. So last night we decided to use it. We went with the Gibson's who also did the program and we had such a great time, other than the fact that it was really humid and about 100 degrees we still made it fun.
The first ride Christian did was the swings, he was really scared but he ended up loving it.

Unfortunately, the carousel was the only ride Ryan could go on.

We let Christian and Brittany go on the log ride by themselves. It had two drops and their faces say it all. They got really wet which they loved!

Dan won this sword at the carnival games. Ryan was so happy!

My favorite ride is the Falling Star and I made Leah go on it with me, but she really didn't like it and decided that she has become our Mother and is scared of rides that go to fast or have the falling sensation. I still made her ride it twice though!

Christian is in Training

So we signed Dan up for the San Bernardino Sheriffs Mud Run on September 6th, it is a 5k race and this is their course description: This Course subjects you to a gauntlet of mud pits, hill climbs, mud slides, low crawls, water pits, and as many twisted obstacles as we can throw at you!! CAUTION: You will be running through the sounds of machine gun fire, explosions, and you will get very DIRTY! Well for anyone that knows Christian knows that he is totally into Army and Police. So this race has a Youth 1k so we signed him up for it and he is so excited. Since Dan and I always tell Christian that when we go running it is training for our race he thought he needed to train as well. So for the last week we have been doing different exercises with him and he has been trying to run. A 1k is about .62 of a mile so that is up and down our street twice. So Last night we decided that he needed to try and run the whole thing, he ran it in 7 minutes I couldn't believe it. He also has football tryouts on Saturday so he says he has to get ready for that as well. It has been a lot of fun and it is nice to just get outside and get exercise together. The best part is that he has been sleeping so much better!
Pictures from last night's run.

This is from a park we went to in San Diego, he said that they may have walls for him to climb so he was getting ready for it.

Ryan has loved the training as well since he gets to be outside which is his favorite thing.
This is a video of him trying to do this upper body exercise. It was really hard I couldn't believe that it was at the park!

San Diego

On Thursday we went down to San Diego to spend sometime as a family, it was a trip just for the four of us. We stayed down in Encinitas at a Days Inn. We got a great deal on the hotel and once we got there we saw why. It was a one bed room, we tried to upgrade to a bigger room but this hotel only has 1 bed per rooms, CRAZY. So we were very cramped but it didn't ruin our time. We went to the beach and then went swimming in the hotel pool on Thursday. We also went to a park and had "Training" for Christian. (I will explain later about this) On Friday we went to Legoland. It was great. Since we have been to Legoland a couple of times now we didn't need to run around and do all the rides. We were able to play more and see all the shows and exhibits. This is the first time just our family of four have gone on vacation and although it was a short trip it was still a nice little break for our normal.
Our very small room, Dan is standing against the wall and I was standing outside the door to take the picture.
Christian was so excited to take a picture with a Lego Character I guess all the times we have gone before we hadn't seen any.

Ryan was very active this time and didn't want to stay in his stroller at all. So it was good that we didn't go on very many rides otherwise I think the day would not have turned out so well.

This is one of Christian's favorite rides. It has 5 different levels of excitement they call it, thank goodness Christian is only tall enough for the second level so it spins you but not very fast.

This is one of the exhibits where the kids get to try and find crystals and gold. Christian loved it!

The last of these pictures were taken at a big play area that we haven't spent much time at but this time we were there for almost an hour. The kids had a great time.

They were playing Doctor and Daniel was the patient, Ryan thought it was so funny. Unfortunately, by the time I got the camera this little girl came in and would not let me take one with out her in it.

Family Night

Well last night we got together with my family to celebrate my brother, Johnny's birthday. We had such a good time. We had a great Chilean dinner (He served his mission in Chile) and then we played some games. It was a nice night so we played outside and then we had cake and ice cream. It was a perfect evening except for the fact that the girls lost the volleyball game.

I was trying to get an action shot of how crazy it gets when everyone is together but of course Christian had to pose!Playing volleyball with out the net.Maybe we lost because we all look scared of the ball!

Dan hanging out with Nathan and Sara.

Playing Red Light Green Light, Christian was about to win.

Ryan loved this guitar and was rocking out all night!
