Vacation Part 1
Our trip was amazing! We did almost everything we wanted to do while we were there and saw everyone that we wanted too. Toward the end of the trip Ryan's no naps were starting to take a toll on him but other than that the kids all did wonderful. I can't really express in words how wonderful it was to be there. I was able to get to know Dan's Dad and Stepmom so much better and the kids just loved being with Grammy, Grampy, and their cousins. For journal purposes I am going to break the trip up into three different post. We left Thursday night at 11:55pm so basically midnight Friday morning. We took the red eye on Jet Blue which was a direct flight from LA to Boston. The flight was really nice except for two things, one Megan was not use to sleeping in our arms (she sleeps wonderful in her bed not with us) so she was up almost every hour of the 5 hour flight crying for her bed. At one point we laid the tray table down and put a whole bunch of blankets on it so she could sleep and she slept for 2 hours. The second bad part was that once we got near Boston they were having a rain storm so it was really turbulent which caused Megan to completely throw up all over herself and Dan. So the last 30 minutes I was trying not to throw up as well from the smell. We arrived at 8:30 eastern time, got our rental car and then drove the 40 minutes to Merrimack in New Hampshire where Dan's Dad lives. We spent the rest of Friday resting and unpacking. Then Saturday the 21st we had a surprise party for his Dad's 60th birthday, which was one of the main reasons we flew out. The party was such a huge success, Dan's sisters did a really great job putting it all together. His Dad was surprised, we got to see alot of family that we might not have seen otherwise and the kids had so much fun playing with all their cousins. His Dad got money for a new TV for his birthday so the next week he and Dan went and got a 42"LCD Flat Screen so that they could enjoy Thanksgiving football in HD of course. Christian and Dylan stood look out for Grammy's car so that we could get ready for the big surprise, once they saw it they quickly ran around the back of the house so they wouldn't see them. It was really cute and they did a great job! After we had eaten Ryan kept asking for cake finally Aunt Erin said that once Grampy blows out the candles he can have some so he quickly went to Grampy and asked him for cake so he made it happen. He blew out the candles and then gave Ryan the first bite. Ryan loved it!Ryan loved all the toys at Aunt Kelly's, he now wants a rocking horse for Christmas.Grampy said that one of the best parts of the party was all the grand kids playing together. Unfortunately we were missing 5 of them (actually 6 now the 6th one was born the Tuesday after the party) but here is a picture of the ones that were there and a picture of some of his kids.On Sunday Dan was able to go to the Jets vs. Patriots game with his Dad so the rest of us hung out at home. The kids did really great and played outside. The Patriots won and Dan had such a great time with his Dad. Going to Football games with him has been something that Dan has definitely missed since living in California. During the trip if you asked anyone about the weather they would tell me that is was nice and mild outside because it was in the high 40's, now for them I am sure it was MILD considering it was not freezing or snowing but for this California girl I was COLD the whole trip and most of the time you found me completely bundled up!
