"Today is a gift that is why they call it the present"
I saw this quote today and thought it was so interesting.
Do something fun and different today.
Happy Leap Day!

Standing
Ryan wouldn't take a nap today he only slept for about 10 minutes with Rachel this morning and then for about 20 minutes in the car on the way to get Christian from school. When we got home he was really fussy so I gave him a bottle and put him to bed. Well about 20 minutes later I saw him standing in his crib on our video monitor so I went up stairs to capture his moment. He has done it twice before today but totally by accident and as soon as he was up he would let go and fall down again. Well today he mastered the art of standing in his crib and I just love how he is so proud of himself for doing it. As you can see he still didn't get a nap!

I love California
Within 48 hours we spent the day at the beach and in the snow. On Saturday we went down to the beach to hang out and have a bonfire. The kids rode their bikes and we flew kites. It was probably about 65 degrees and so beautiful. There were a lot of sailboats out in the water. Christian built a sand fort for the army men and Ryan loved the sand. He had no problem falling face first into it and eating plenty as well. However he did not enjoy the snow. This afternoon we picked Christian up after school and headed up the mountain to play in the snow. Ryan thought that the snow was way to cold for him and since he refuses to keep his shoes and socks on he spent most of the afternoon crying and fighting to get them off. The rest of us had a great time playing in the snow. Since it has rained so much here the snow was pretty icy but we still enjoyed it. Christian went sledding, built a snowman and had a great snowball fight with his Dad.

Biter Biscuits
I have been trying to find new snacks that Ryan can feed himself while I get his food ready so that he is not crying while waiting. So I decided to try these biter biscuits and I honestly think they are the worst things ever. They make his hands and face sticky and they leave a mess everywhere. He really like it as you can see from the pictures below but I don't think the mess is worth it, I guess I will just stick to the puffs and cheerios.

Travel Town
On Monday we went to Travel Town for my Nephew's Birthday. Travel town is a train museum with lots of old trains for the kids to play on. We had a really great time. We got there about 10:30 and let the kids explore the trains and then we had a picnic lunch. When we went on the Train that takes you around the park Ryan totally loved it. My sister took pictures on the train so once I get them I will add those as well because Ryan was laughing the whole time. It was a really great day, very stress free and the kids had a blast. Christian loved getting to be on all the trains and Ryan just loved being outside for about 4 hours. Happy Birthday Andrew and thanks for such a great day.

New Bed
Ok Christian has been sleeping on a mattress that was mine since probably junior high and he hasn't been sleeping well so we knew it was time for a new mattress. Dan decided that we should get him a loft bed so that he has more room to play. Well we ended up getting a loft bed with a tent and I don't think he really has more room to play because the tent is so big but he loves it, so I guess it was worth it!
He loves that he gets to slide down to get out of bed every morning. He really wakes up in a better mood!
This is the boys inside the tent.

Talents
Christian has been obsessed with writing songs lately. He wants to be in a Band and every chance he can he sings. Well most of the time he is really shy and will not sing except for in front of his family. Well on Friday night we went to the Ward Talent show and he decided that he wanted to be a part of it. So he went over to the Lady in charge and asked her if he could sing, she of course said that would be fine and told him that he would be the third one up. Well I was totally sure that he would back out when they called his name but he didn't. So he walked up to the stage and he says "I wrote this song myself, I actually wrote two songs but I am only going to sing one because I am really nervous." Then he began to sing I was so nervous for him, but when he ended I was so proud. He came back and sat by me and said "Jennie I was so nervous my leg wouldn't stop shaking." It was so cute but unfortunately I don't have any pictures or videos of it, another lady recorded it so once I get it I will share it. He really is so talented at writing and for my brother in laws birthday he wrote him a song as his gift. So Dan I decided that he needed a book to write them in so that we could keep them for him sort of like a journal. So I made this book for him for Valentine's Day. That way the songs will be saved and in five years we will get a good kick out of reading them.

Finally
After 9 1/2 months Ryan is finally crawling and I am so excited. I know that everyone says that things will never be the same but I am so happy that he finally reached this milestone (if you listen carefully you can hear him grunting the whole way).

What a week
So I felt that since Football season has now officially ended I needed a new girly background. Well the Patriots didn't win the big game and thank goodness we had some great friends over to help Dan get over the loss. He will now be in mourning until August. On another note I have had such an amazing week, I feel so blessed. When President Hinckley passed away last sunday I started comptemplating my own life and the legacy I wanted to leave to my kids, grandkids and even my great grandkids. He was such an incredible man that lived his life to the fullest I felt that it was time for me to change and be a little better. Well Monday and Tuesday were not that great but the rest of the week was so perfect. Wednesday night Dan had his Cub Scout Pack meeting and it was Space Derby's so the boys got to race their rockets which was so fun. Then on Thursday I went to Sara's Baby shower and got to just hang out with some really great women. Then on Friday night Dan and I got together with some friends and we played games. Saturday was spent with my family and then today was the Superbowl. So I feel so blessed that Dan and I have such great friends that have helped us in more ways then they know and for our amazing Families. We love them more than words can describe. I am greatful for our callings in the church and the opportunities we have to give service. I am going to try and find the good things in life and stop looking at all the negatives. (Sorry this kind of turned into a journal entry)
